“Impressions of my last trip to Afghanistan”

Former French ambassador for Afghanistan, Régis Koetschet has visited that country several times (most recently in November 2016).  By sharing his impressions, he gives  us a possibility of understanding the current evolutions occurring in Afghanistan.
Who is Régis Koetschet ?

The chairman of MADERA (Mission d’Aide au Développement des Economies Rurales en Afghanistan), he was the French ambassador to Kabul from 2005 to 2008.
As a diplomat he was in office in Baghdad, Islamabad, Mascate and Jerusalem, before managing the Delegation for Relations with the Civil Society and the partnerships of the Head office of the Globalization in Quai d'Orsay.

Board member of AFRANE and the CEREDAF, he sits on the committee of the International Solidarities of the Foundation of France, and as assessor to the National Court of the Right to Asylum.

He is particularly interested in the cultural relations between France and Afghanistan. You can find his latest article in the News of Afghanistan, published by Afrane on “Malraux and Afghanistan”, which illustrates his passion.

Bamiyan, rural development and role of the communities
This seminar of reflexions and exchanges organized by MADERA in Versailles last April 2016 in the Potager du Roi at the National School of Landscape Architecture has given the opportunity to share NGO's testimonies on their work in Central Afghanistan and to remind us of the importance of the CHP (Central Highland Project) to which Solidarités Internationales, GERES and MADERA are part of.

Those interventions on the remarkable resilience of Afghan rural communities does invite each actor of the Civil Society to consolidate their relationships with Afghan farmers.
