Statement

June, 4 2015

The Afghan media reported on June 3, the arrest of an Afghan employee of MADERA, suspected by the Afghan authorities of complicity in the preparation of terrorist attacks in Kabul.

MADERA confirms with regret the arrest of that employee. MADERA had no reason to believe that he might be involved with a criminal organization. Our association will closely follow the developments of the investigation.

MADERA is an international aid organization working in Afghanistan since 1988 in the field of  rural development and support to village communities. We, and our 250 Afghan collaborators with us, hope that this case will have no impact on our continuing operations. We remain totally committed to the service of the Afghan people.
